Tucker is a New York-based Choreographer, Director, and Educator who works with both expressionist and formalist movement to create nuanced theatrical storytelling. He holds a B.A. in Theatre from Northwestern University and is currently working toward an M.F.A. in Directing at Columbia University under the mentorship of Anne Bogart and Brian Kulick.
As the son of a musician and a human-interest writer, Tucker was brought up at the crossroads of music and narrative. He trained in many dance styles (Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Hiphop, Modern, Lyrical, West African) at studios throughout Tampa Bay, FL and spent summers studying with The Sarasota Ballet and the Broadway Theatre Project before attending college.
At Northwestern University, Tucker studied Musical Theatre Choreography and Direction under the mentorship of Billy Siegenfeld, Jeffery Hancock, and David H. Bell, as well as Theatre for Young Audiences under the tutelage of Rives Collins. He received the George L. Siegel Scholarship in Music Theater, Aurand Harris Award for excellence in Children’s Theatre, and Excellence Awards for academic achievements and contributions to Northwestern’s Theatre program.
Over the past decade, Tucker has directed and choreographed a variety of musicals and plays, movement advised productions, and staged award-winning routines for recitals, cabarets, competitions, and Florida's International Thespian Society festivals. His students have received Top Honors and Critics’ Choice distinctions, the Dolly Van Parys Academic and Talent Scholarship, as well as Broadway Star of the Future nominations for Outstanding Lead and Supporting Performances and Design.
In 2019, Tucker choreographed the first staged production of Frank Loesser’s TYA musical, Hans Christian Andersen, studied with Josh Prince, Valerie Salgado, and additional artists at Dance Lab New York’s Broadway Choreography Intensive, and wrote/directed/choreographed an original play with music, Joni: Busy Being Free.
In 2020, Tucker served as the Assistant Artistic Director and Associate Program Director of the Broadway Theatre Project and became a full-time faculty member at Saint Andrew’s School in Boca Raton, FL, where he served as a Theatre Instructor, Dance Instructor, Director, and Choreographer.
In 2021, Tucker was featured in DANCE TEACHER MAGAZINE’s article “Yes, It *Is* Possible to Make Socially-Distant Musical Theater Choreography”, choreographed Delray Beach Playhouse’s production of Elf The Musical, and directed a developmental reading of a new musical, The Chosen One.
In 2022, Tucker assistant choreographed Odd Machine’s Caterpillar Inc. commercial, choreographed Virginia Children’s Theatre’s concert Brand New Day: A Celebration of Unity, choreographed Northwestern University’s inaugural MFA Acting cohort in their production of Dance Nation, and became the Director of Theatre at Canterbury School of Florida in St. Petersburg, FL.
In 2023, Tucker wrote “Everyone, Everywhere, Moving to the Ragtime!” for AMERICAN STAGE’s Arts Guide, was featured as Associate Choreographer and “Ensemble” in BROADWAY ON DEMAND’s recording of Something in the Game, directed Jump Rhythm©’s Fortitude and Gentleness (formerly What Do You Want To Be When You Give Up?) at the Mark O’Donnell Theater in Brooklyn, NY, and was appointed Chair of the Arts Department at Canterbury School of Florida.
In 2024, Tucker graduated from SOUTHERN POVERTY LAW CENTER’s Critical Practices for Social Justice Education Professional Learning Cohort, was nominated for the Straz Center for the Performing Arts’ Broadway Star of the Future Outstanding Choreographer Award for Choreography of CHICAGO: TEEN EDITION at the Canterbury School of Florida, choreographed MEAN GIRLS at Central Park Performing Arts Center, served as Program Director for the Broadway Theatre Project, and began his graduate studies in Columbia University’s MFA Theatre Directing program.
